Manila Diary | Week Twelve | Single Digits

I only have one week left... These past 2 months have flown by. The feelings of the Office prove that our time here is winding down. We've reached single digit days until we pack up and head to the airport. All of us are anxious to be home and ready to see our families. They only two words that I could really put to this entire internship would be... holy shit.(sorry Mom)

There have been a lot of ups and downs, laughing fits and a few crying sessions, but amongst all the chaos, there have been moments of sheer bliss. I've traveled to multiple islands of the Philippines, experiencing the cuisine, the culture, and the kind people that populate it. Filipinos are very warm and giving. They love to laugh. The belly-aching, knee slapping, tears coming out of your eyes kind of laughs. They are confident and accepting of everyone. They will help in what ever circumstance. They are simple, pleasant and happy people, going about their day, teaching their kids and keeping tabs on Filipino daytime drama.

We decided we needed some time to celebrate one last time while we had everyone here. If there's one thing that Filipino's love, it's karaoke night! They sing as loud and proudly as they can! Anything from 90's punk rock to romantic and cheesy love songs. We shared dinner and dessert and sang for hours. It is almost time to say goodbye... but not quite yet.

Thanks for reading!
Love, Nick
