Full Moon Sound Bath | Trying Something New

As people started filing into the lowly lit cave, I seated myself on a yoga mat on the ground covered in crushed up salt. I gripped chunks of salt in my hand and let it slowly funnel out between my fingers. This was going to be my first experience in a Himalayan salt cave. We were only a few minutes away from starting a sound bath under the full moon. This wellness center opened up a few years ago and I have been intrigued by it when I heard the news. Everyone waiting seemed excited and happy, drawing their own designs in the salt and making small talk with neighbors. Thousands of bricks outlined the room along with a beautiful mandala designed placed at the center of the room.

We began by laying down on the floor in whatever comfortable position you could find. Breathing deeply and quieting our minds, the vibration from the sound bowls could be felt everywhere. The methodic and rhythmic chimes from the sound bowl could be felt throughout your whole body. We listened to our instructors guiding us through a meditation and sorting our thoughts leading us to the present moment. I adjusted my back and licked my lips surprised that it tasted like salt. The room felt open, safe and peaceful. There were no issues, problems or worries. I felt a tranquil sense of serenity.

After finishing, I rolled up my mat and put my shoes back on. The center had a shopping section at the front of the building with a nice collection of books, jewelry, salt lamps and crystals. I really enjoyed that time I spent in the cave and would love to do it again! It was a perfect way to unwind and relax. I would absolutely go again and recommend everyone to give it a try.

Thanks for Reading!
Love, Nick
