Aerial Silks Class | Trying Something New
Finding unique and creative ways to stay active over the past few months has required some extra effort this year. As most gyms and studios were closed for a few weeks, it forced everyone to think outside the box and find alternative workouts using heavy things at home to lift. This worked out great for me because I never really cared much to commit to a gym in the first place, so it seemed like the right move to cancel my membership and try something new!
There are infinite ways to be active and healthy! My friends and I decided to take an aerial silks class, something none of us have ever tried! We met our instructor who was kind and patient and great at teaching us the tips and tricks. The thing that surprised me the most is that the moves really require you to steady your feet placement and watch where you wrap the silk, otherwise you could get really tangled up. We spun in circles and fluttered our arms out to our side. We shared plenty of laughs and caught funny slips and perfect attempts on camera. The best thing about the class was how beautiful we all felt. We celebrated our little victories once we nailed the move and enjoyed swaying about in our silk cocoons. You could personalize any move, combine multiple and use your body to create a story. We had so much fun together and we plan on taking more classes. It's important to love your body and connect with it!
