Park City Fashion Week

When your powerhouse friend invites you to make history during the Sundance Film Festival and attend the first ever Park City Fashion Week, you simultaneously begin planning an outfit and mapping out make up looks before you even buy a ticket.

I have always loved the allure of the fashion industry. Wearable art that is both intriguing, original and unique. I was so excited to share the experience the VIP section with my friend Haley by sitting front row at the first ever Park City Fashion Show. It was the highlight of my January and shaped up to be one of the most luxurious Sunday afternoon's I've ever had.

Upon arrival, we were greeted at the door with waivers and clipboards. Do all fashion shows require waivers? As I was filling it out, I realized that they were going to be filming for a T.V. show that would be airing in the future. Realizing that there'd be a chance I'd be on T.V, which I thought was pretty sweet, I signed my face away and headed up the stairs to check in.

We walked into Park City Live to everyone buzzing in conversation, snapping photos and ordering drinks. The runway started at the top of the stage and came down to a sort of "U" shape around the audience with an additional center section specifically for the photographers. Jake and the Heist were performing as people funneled into their chairs. Haley and I found 2 seats together and grabbed our Lunatic Fringe swag bags on our chairs. Inside there was...

The show began and each designer had an introductory video about their collection and what inspires them about fashion design. The music was queued and people clapped and cheered at their favorite ensembles. It seems like most of the models were local talent as well! Haley and I swapped critiques about the structure, texture or layout of the clothing. I recorded videos of my favorite collections and snapped a few photos during the show.

We realized near the end of the show, that the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City were attending the show, and one of their son's was actually apart of the show, Brooks Marks. Now that everything had came full circle, we were happy to be a part of something that showed off the local experience and put on display what Utah has to offer visitors. After the show, Haley and I grabbed an early dinner at the Main Street Pizza & Noodle restaurant and enjoyed each other's company. We jabbered away on our hour long car ride home and reminisced about the show, goals for the year and life's experiences.

It was such a good day that really stretched me out of my comfort zone. It's not every day that you get told you look like Brittany Snow either! I felt glamorous, significant and it was a fabulous day in beautiful Park City. I consider this event a new tradition and I can't wait for the next one!

Thanks for Reading
Love, Nick
