8 Ways To Start the New Year
I'm all about new year plans and resolutions for clean slates and starting fresh. If you're not into goals but maybe you're feeling that need to rid yourself of some of last year's residue, then I've got a few ideas. Here is a lit of a few house projects that I've been working on while I've been off on my holiday vacation from work which in truth has helped me feel replenished and prepared for the starting off on the right foot. Pick as many options that interest you to get you in the new year spirit!
It's the inevitable part of the year where we say must goodbye to the glitter and gold of the holiday season. Of course it is sad to put away our Santa soap dispensers and tree ornaments, but they'll be there for next year! It's time to make new memories!
Write Holiday Thank You Cards
There's something very heartwarming upon receiving a handwritten letter in the mail from a loved one. It's a guaranteed way to make someone smile and feel appreciated! Show your gratitude by sending a message of thanks to someone who gave you a gift or hosted a dinner/party. It's a simple gesture that can go a long way!
Recycle Glass, Cardboard, etc...
Does anybody else have a big box of glass bottles in their garage, or is that just me? It's a tedious chore that tends to get easily ignored, go ahead and bite the bullet and take your recycling to the nearest drop off location. Take any plastic sacks, batteries, electronics, metals or other out of the ordinary items that can be recycled and properly dispose of them
Compile or Digitize Important Documents
Tax season is finally upon us, so now is a good time to start collecting any important tax documents and write off information for when you file. I love hard copies, but I can't deny the convenience of having documents as a PDF. It's the way our world works now right? Whatever your personal preference may be, it's wise to at least begin getting things together.
Schedule Appointments
Is your car over due for an oil change? Do you need your teeth cleaned at the dentist? Do you want to treat yourself to a new haircut, pedicure or massage for the new year? Book it! Make sure you're taking care of yourself while you catch up on any maintenance needed.
Update Your Tech
How do want to store your photos? Do you want them downloaded onto a thumb drive or hard drive? Do you want to print them out into books? If you have a smart phone, consider updating any software or apps or deleting apps that you don't need. You could also change your background to something that may motivate you!
Deep House Cleaning
I'll be making a "New Year, New Me" cleaning list that can essentially revitalize all the rooms in your home, plus more. Whether you do a general cleaning or deep cleaning, freshening up your home after the holiday chaos can really set the tone and help you feel more at ease.
Purchase Supplies
I can't tell you home much I look forward to buying a new planner and notebook for the new year! There is something about fresh pages that I crave at the start of new beginnings. I also like to get a new expanding file folder for all the incoming 2020 documents. I like to organize medical bills, car bills, utilities, bank info and many other categories!
I hope you found some of these helpful or inspiring!
Thanks for Reading!
Love, Nick
