My Traveling Diaries | 2018 | Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, USA

Welcome to Lava Hot Springs! The place where you can find all sorts of entertainment, food, shopping, art and history on a single road. World famous for it's mineral pools and hot springs hidden in the mountains, this place is only populated by 412 people but there's plenty of room for all your friends and family!

We had come for a weekend getaway to visit our friends in Pocatello and dedicated a day trip to Lava Hot Springs. We grabbed lunch first thing at the Chuckwagon Restaurant. We meandered downtown to look at small art booths displaying old Harley Davidson memorabilia, handcrafted furniture and cacti sculptures. Native American influence was everywhere. We found huge collections of jade jewelry, dream catchers, animal furs, pelts and skulls.

Shuttles were passing by back and forth picking up passengers equipped with giant floating tubes. We knew we needed had to give this "floating the river" a try. I regret not grabbing any photos from the river, but you don't realize how much fun it is until you try it! Rushing through waterfalls and splashing against the currents made me feel like I was a little kid again!

We also decided to catch a quick history lesson at the local Museum. After making our donations, we looked through the different sections of the building showcasing local heroes and the defining moments that the town was proud of. My favorite part had to be the military documents, uniform and medals collected from War Veterans of Lava Hot Springs from World War 1 and World War 2.

We decided to end the successful day trip with not one but two scoops of their famous ice cream. You can never go wrong with cookies and cream to end a hot summer day. It was so good to spend much needed time with our friends. We'll be visiting Lava Hot Springs again... and hopefully with more friends!

Thanks For Reading
Love, Nick
